Prof Adré Schreuder had a dream to create a scientifically sound customer satisfaction index that provide results that can be compared internationally. Thus, the SAcsi was founded. Adre is not only the founder of SAcsi, but also the Chief Executive Officer of Consulta. Consulta is the custodial organisation of the SAcsi. In 2012 Consulta reached an agreement with the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) to launch the South African version of this global satisfaction measurement benchmark.

The SAcsi is a national economic indicator of customer evaluations of the quality of products and services purchased and used by household consumers in South Africa.
